Mapping In 1994, F & L Crop Services started looking for a better means to verify planted acres for the crop policy. In working with its providing company, Crop Growers Ins., F & L Crop Services started using the GPS (Global Positioning Satellites) system in November, 1997 to map field boundaries. Glen was the 3rd agent (1st north of Texas) with the company to incorporate GPS Mapping into crop insurance. As a leader in this technology, he worked closely with the company to improve it. He also worked with the company to get each farmers maps available on the Internet. Currently, F & L has approximately 160,000 acres mapped. Each year, acres are updated and changes or new land is mapped, as well as any PP acres that occur. Every insured receives a booklet of their maps for each crop year. Below is a sample map: |
